Texas A&M’s College Station campus announced the student and employee disaster relief fund Sept. 8 to help with small-but-essential, one-time immediate needs for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. With approximately 45 percent – or more than 31,000 members of Texas A&M’s student body – coming from one of the counties affected by Hurricane Harvey, many Texas A&M students arrived for classes with literally just the clothes on their backs after wading through waist-deep water in their hometowns to get here. Many faculty and staff working to bring normalcy to the start of the school year have done so while dealing with personal hardship themselves.
