Shane Smith & the Saints will take the stage as the headline entertainment for the third annual Troubadour Festival when it returns to Aggie Park on the Texas A&M University campus May 17.

First held at Aggie Park in 2023, the Troubadour Festival brings together top country music artists and Texas’s best barbecue for the state’s premier barbecue and live country music event.

This year’s festival lineup of artists includes Texas country legends Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen, 49 Winchester, Josh Meloy and Hudson Westbrook. Shane Smith & the Saints will headline the festival, and there will be additional performances by Tyler Halverson, Jacob Stelly and JoJo DiSalvo.

“We think this is our best Aggieland lineup yet and hope to welcome thousands of new and returning Texas barbecue and country music fans to the area,” said Chase Colston, festival promoter and co-owner of Double Tap Entertainment, which produces the event, in a news release announcing the lineup.

While enjoying the music, festivalgoers can taste smoked meats from 25 of the state’s most acclaimed barbecue restaurants and pitmasters. Fifteen of the participants were featured on Texas Monthly’s 2021 Top 50 BBQ Joints list, with five more earning honorable mentions. Three were recognized in the magazine’s 2023 Top 25 Best New & Improved BBQ Joints in Texas.

Notable participants include InterStellar BBQ, which recently earned a Michelin Star, along with Blood Bros. BBQ and Tejas Chocolate & BBQ, which were both awarded Bib Gourmands.

This year, the event is introducing “Meat Church & Friends: A Live Fire Experience,” presented by 44 Farms. Meat Church BBQ pitmaster and CEO Matt Pittman will collaborate with four other Texas pitmasters to demonstrate live fire cooking techniques, with opportunities for attendees to sample a variety of dishes.

The festival is offering a limited number of discounted tickets for students, active and retired military members, first responders and educators with a valid ID.
