Meet New College Of Education Dean Joyce Alexander

The College of Education & Human Development at Texas A&M University is pleased to welcome Joyce M. Alexander, Ph.D., as the incoming dean beginning June 1.

The College of Education & Human Development is pleased to welcome Joyce M. Alexander as the incoming dean beginning June 1.

“I’m very excited to be working with the faculty in the College of Education & Human Development at Texas A&M,” Alexander said. “The faculty here conduct outstanding research, inspire the next generation with world-class teaching, and run outreach programs throughout the surrounding region. This is a truly exciting place to be.”

Since 2011, Dr. Alexander has served as the executive associate dean in the School of Education at Indiana University Bloomington, where she is a professor in the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology.  Her primary research interest is focused on the precursors and longitudinal consequences of early interests in science-related fields. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas Wesleyan University, and a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia.

Previously, Dr. Alexander served as chair of the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology at Indiana University. She has received numerous awards and honors including the Indiana University Teaching Excellence Recognition Award, the Indiana University Outstanding Junior Faculty Award, and the American Psychological Association Division 15 Outstanding Dissertation Research Award.
