Three Texas A&M Professors Appointed Senior Members Of National Academy of Inventors
Faculty are honored nationally as "rising stars" for fostering innovation while educating and mentoring future inventors.
The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) today announced three Texas A&M University professors have been named Senior Members of the NAI Class of 2025, one of the most prestigious honors in higher education.
The newest Senior Members are:
Dr. Nick Duffield
Royce E. Wisenbaker Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Director of the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science
Dr. Arum Han
Texas Instruments Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Associate dean for research, College of Engineering
Associate agency director, Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station
Dr. James Smith
Professor, Department of Biology, College of Arts and Sciences
According to NAI, Senior Members are “active faculty, scientists, and administrators with success in patents, licensing, and commercialization and have produced technologies that have brought or aspire to bring, real impact on the welfare of society. They are rising stars who foster a spirit of innovation within their communities and institutions while educating and mentoring the next generation of inventors.”
Duffield, Han and Smith join just 162 inventors nationwide inducted into this year’s class. NAI reports there are currently 553 Senior Members, holding more than 5,700 patents and representing over 100 NAI member institutions worldwide.
