Texas A&M Affirms New College, New School And Name Changes Effective Sept. 1

Brigadier General Patrick R. Michaelis will become the Corps' 46th commandant, overseeing the university's uniformed student body.

The longtime meat science professor's appointment is effective June 6.

Both were named to the roles after serving in an interim capacity.

As the academic heart of Texas A&M, the College of Arts and Sciences will provide world-class teaching, research, service and resources.

A&M System members are the first academic-based organizations in Texas to sign the ESGR Statement of Support.

Ramirez, a Texas A&M graduate, has served in the role in an interim capacity since June 3.

Jorge A. Vanegas, dean of the College of Architecture since 2009, will remain with the university and Patrick C. Suermann will serve as acting dean.

Hussey will serve in the position while a search is conducted to replace outgoing Vice Chancellor and Dean Patrick Stover.

For John E. Hurtado, who is now leading the College of Engineering, his journey at Texas A&M started with grad school.
