Several hundred people packed into one of the lecture halls in the Mitchell Physics Building on Saturday afternoon to hear Aggie astronaut Col. Mike Fossum talk about his experiences in space as well as his current job as chief operating officer of Texas A&M’s Galveston campus and superintendent of the Texas A&M Maritime Academy.

The annual event, which is free and open to anyone, featured performances by the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band and student dance groups, along with academic program presentations and residence hall tours — putting everything on display for potential students to experience.

An unexpected treasure trove of information about how spaceflight impacts the human body and other related topics was recently given to Dr. Jeffery Chancellor, director of the Aerospace Medicine Program at the Texas A&M University College of Medicine.

U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. praised the work being done at Texas A&M University to improve nutrition in the nation’s food supply during a visit to College Station on Tuesday.

“What we do is really a one-of-a-kind program. No other schools offer this kind of program nor are there any other programs like this out there,” said Dr. Sam Miller Jr., the center’s director.
