The Distinguished Alumnus Award is the highest honor bestowed upon a former student of Texas A&M University.
Clarence E. Sasser, a Brazoria County native and distinguished veteran of the Vietnam War, earned the nation’s highest military honor in 1969 before studying chemistry at Texas A&M.
Recipients will be honored in October at The Association's Distinguished Alumni Gala and at Kyle Field during the A&M-Alabama game.

Only 318 of Texas A&M’s over 555,000 former students have been recognized with the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
All three recipients are being honored posthumously.
Since the inception of the award in 1962, only 303 of Texas A&M’s 527,000 former students have been recognized with the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
